Aid for energy renovation

The aids are financial, in the form of grants, tax credits, VAT reductions, or zero-interest loans.

For all schemes, the work that entitles you to financial aid must necessarily be carried out by a professional qualified as RGE (Recognized Guarantor of the Environment) for all operations for which this qualification exists.

MaPrimeRénov’

Who?

This energy transition grant is dedicated to all homeowners who occupy their housing, landlord owners and condominiums without income condition since October 1, 2020.

What?

The housing must:

be constructed for more than 2 years,
be used as the primary residence.

Where?

In mainland France and overseas territories.

Which works?

Heating: installation of a very high energy-efficient gas boiler, thermodynamic water heater, air/water, geothermal or solar thermal heat pump, individual solar water heater or combined solar system, closed hearth and log or pellet insert, removal of an oil tank, etc. The aid can vary between 400 and 10,000 euros depending on the equipment and the household's income.
Insulation: installation of thermal insulation: exterior or interior walls, sloping roof or attic ceilings, flat roofs, replacement of single-glazed windows and doors etc. The aid can go up to 100 euros/m2 or per equipment.
Ventilation: installation of a controlled mechanical double-flow system. The grant ranges between 2,000 euros and 4,000 euros.
Global renovation: carrying out works that reduce energy consumption by at least 55% minimum in primary energy and do not increase greenhouse gas emissions. Grant between 3,500 and 7,000 euros, reserved for households with intermediate and higher incomes.
“Low Energy Building” Bonus: for renovations that achieve an A or B label in an energy audit. Grant from 500 to 1,500 euros.
“Exiting energy sieve” Bonus: for homes whose renovation works allow them to no longer be classified as F or G in an energy audit. Grant ranging from 500 euros to 1,500 euros.

How much?

It is possible to combine these aids up to 20,000 euros per housing over 5 years. For a landlord, they can benefit from these grants for 3 housings up to 20,000 euros per housing always.

It will be paid in one installment at the end of the works. It is cumulative with the energy saving certificates aids, the action housing aids, and those of local communities.

The cumulative amount is capped at 90% of the total cost of the works for the most modest households and 40% for households with higher resources.

How?

The request must be made on the website maprimerenov.gouv.fr before the start of the works, even before signing the company's quote that will carry out the works (except for two specific cases).

The Energy Saving Certificates (CEE)

The CEEs are grants offered by certain suppliers (gas, electricity) who have signed a charter.

Who?

Owner-occupiers or landlords, tenants or free occupants, civil real estate companies, managers, or owners of tertiary buildings.

Without income condition but these aids are more significant for households with modest incomes.

Which works?

Roof insulation (attic and roof) and/or lower floors initiated between 09/01/2020 and 12/31/2021.
Grant of 10 or 20 euros/m2 of insulation installed.
Replacement of a boiler running on coal, oil, or gas with equipment using renewable energy sources (air/water, water/water or hybrid heat pump, combined solar system etc) or by a very high-performance gas boiler.
Grant between 600 and 4,000 euros.
Replacement of coal heating equipment with a very efficient wood device.
Grant between 500 and 800 euros.
Replacement of old electric convectors with a very efficient electric device.
Aid of 50 or 100 euros.

For these last three, the installation of new equipment must be done by an RGE recognized professional.

Comprehensive and efficient renovation of a dwelling allowing at least 55% energy savings for a house built more than two years ago, and 35% for a collective building. The amount of the grant depends on the energy savings achieved.
An energy audit must be carried out beforehand, and the works must not lead to the installation of a heating system using fossil fuels or increasing greenhouse gas emissions.

There are other cases where it is possible to benefit from aid; these examples are the most common.

The zero-interest eco-loan

It is a loan repayable over 15 years without interest, reserved for housing built more than two years ago.

Who?

Physical persons (owner-occupiers and landlords), civil companies at least one of whose associates is a physical person, and condominiums.

Which works?

Thermal insulation of the entire roof, walls facing the outside (at least 50% of the surfaces), windows on the condition that the materials used come to replace simple glazed partitions (at least half of the windows) and doors leading outside (at least half of the doors)
Insulation of lower floors on basement, crawl space, or open passage (100% of the surfaces)
Installation, regulation or replacement of heating systems or hot water production systems
Installation of heating equipment using a renewable energy source
Installation of hot water production equipment using a renewable energy source

How much?

7,000 euros for a single action on glazed partitions,
15,000 euros for a single action on other types of works,
25,000 euros for a set of 2 works,
30,000 euros for a set of 3 works or more.
